The Park is designed to allow visitors to explore the area. Snæfellsjökull National park is amongst Iceland´s finest assets and everyone is free to explore it.
Travel out of Reykjavik underneath Hvalfjörður fjord to the town of Borganes. We leave the main ring road around Iceland and travel west along the lower end of the Breiðafjörður bay where we will see beaches that are not made of black sand as most are in the country.
We travel along, with the seaside on our left, and incredible scenery and mountains into the town of Hellnar. We are now a relatively short distance from the crown jewel of the tour, Snæfellsjökull volcano glacier, over 1.200 m high and always snow-capped. It is this volcano glacier Jules Verne wrote about in his novel
"Journey to the Center of the Earth".
Along the routhe are additional small towns and fishing villages, the Singing Cave, the Stones of Trial at Dritvík, spectacular bird cliffs and more. A tour not to be missed on your visit to Iceland.
